The NHRA SPORTSnationals events, scheduled for this weekend, have been postponed due to inclement weather forecasts in Kentucky and Maryland. This decision was made to prioritize the safety and experience of the sportsman racers, with the events now set to take place in August.
The JEGS SPORTSnationals at Beech Bend Raceway Park will be held from August 26-30, with a revised schedule. The North Central Division Lucas Oil Series event will now take place first, followed by the SPORTSnationals, ensuring a smooth flow of activities. The event will still feature class eliminations for Stock and Super Stock, and the Top Alcohol portion of the Lucas Oil Series will remain on the weekend's schedule.
Similarly, the Testo SPORTSnationals at Cecil County Dragway and the associated Northeast Division Lucas Oil Series event have been rescheduled for August 13-16. The format will remain unchanged, including a divisional event, class eliminations, and the SPORTSnationals race. This decision was made in collaboration with track officials and sponsors to provide the best experience for the racers.
NHRA Sportsman Manager Jason Galvin emphasized the importance of this early decision, stating that the organization values the sportsman racers and aims to deliver an exceptional experience at each event. The collaboration with Broc Porter at Beech Bend Raceway Park and the JEGS Performance team, as well as Mark Dawson and the Cecil County Dragway team, has resulted in a workable solution that excites all parties involved.
This postponement highlights the NHRA's commitment to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its racers, even in the face of challenging weather conditions. The rescheduled events in August will provide an opportunity for the sportsman racers to showcase their skills and compete in a well-organized and exciting environment.
