Chris Evans Returns as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday - High-Definition Footage Revealed (2026)

Hold onto your shields, Marvel fans! It's official: Chris Evans is back in the fold for Avengers: Doomsday! After weeks of whispers and tantalizing hints, the confirmation has arrived, and it's bringing Steve Rogers back to the big screen in 2026.

The news broke with the release of a high-definition clip, finally shared with those of us who haven't yet experienced Avatar: Fire And Ash. The clip also sets the release date for December 18, 2026.

The clip itself is a bit of a tease, offering only a glimpse of Steve Rogers pulling up to a country home on his Triumph motorcycle. He's then seen lovingly gazing at an infant. Is this his child? Or is Captain America embracing a new role, perhaps babysitting? We'll have to wait until next year to find out!

This return has been the subject of speculation for a while. The hype started at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, which confirmed the return of another major Avengers actor. Last December, Deadline reported that Evans would be back, but not as Captain America. Instead, he'd be reprising the role of Steve Rogers.

But here's where it gets controversial...

Evans himself seemed to downplay the rumors. In an interview with Esquire the following month, he lamented, “This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years—ever since Endgame. I’ve just stopped responding to it.” In June, while promoting Materialists with Fantastic Four star Pedro Pascal, Evans told ScreenRant, “It’s sad to not be back with the band, but I’m sure they’re doing something incredible.”

And this is the part most people miss...

Was he being coy? Did he know something we didn't? Or was he genuinely surprised by the news?

What do you think about Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers? Are you excited, or do you prefer the legacy of Captain America to remain untouched? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
